Welcome to The Art of Bonsai project
The Art of Bonsai project is an Internet study group for advanced bonsai artists and enthusiasts. We are committed to the advancement of bonsai art and the development of bonsai artists through creative exploration of existing artistic design principles.
To make this vision a reality, we require a few guidelines to assure the quality of content and professionalism in all matters. These are listed below. Thank you for reading them and welcome to the forum.
Members must register under their full names. Because we aim to foster an environment of open and responsible discussion among a community of bonsai artists and enthusiasts, no "screen names" or pseudonyms will be allowed.
All photographs posted on artofbonsai.org must exhibit techincal competence: they should be in focus, they should be properly exposed, and they should use the best backdrop possible under the circumstances. Photographs should be edited properly in a photo-editing program. In particular, images should be cropped and corrected if necessary for exposure and rotation. Forum images are to be 300 pixels along the largest dimension, linked to larger versions if necessary.
All forum posts should be well written, using proper spelling and grammar.
All forum posts should involve serious (though not necessarily humorless) and well-intentioned discussions of the artistic aspects of bonsai. While a mastery of the horticultural aspects of bonsai is indispensible for successful bonsai art, we do not intend this forum as a venue for discussing bonsai horticulture. Several internet forums already serve this function, and we encourage members here to participate in those forums and to direct their horticultural concerns to those places.
Passionate disagreement is encouraged, but mutual respect is essential to our mission and verbal hostility will not be tolerated.
Do not post text or images to which you do not have the copyright. For original text and images, the copyright for content posted to the Art of Bonsai remains with the author, though we do request non-exclusive permission to use your contributions in future articles, collections, retrospectives, etc. Contact Carl Bergstrom at email@example.com
if you have questions or concerns about this policy.
Text and images not in accordance with these guidelines will be edited or deleted by the moderators.
