Tokonoma display does not get the appreciation it deserves. Thoughtful display is Art of composition as well as an intelectual exercise. Beyond these elements, I love the idea of presenting a Bonsai or stone for study and appreciation. As we go about our lives, we pass by trees, stones, natures wonders and take no notice. In the Tokonoma, simple objects are presented without distraction. It is so respectful and grounding. In the garden or even in an exhibit is not the same. The Tokonoma allows you to pause and really appreciate. It is a brillant idea.
