Judge Comments:
DB - "Elegant and nicely balanced tree but poor inverse trunk taper • interesting bamboo display table"
NL - "This almost a gem but slightly off balance. Nice pot choice – it enhances the rise from the root mass. Very well designed and executed."

Judge Comments:
DB - "Very well structured • foliage clouds marginally too flat • must look spectacular when in full bloom"
NL - "An interesting contrast between the soft and strong. The second drop of the cascade branch is a bit stiff but the branching conceals this somewhat."

Judge Comments:
DB - "I love the elegance of this tree but the poor nebari lets it down • interesting pot"
NL - "A reasonably interesting split trunk that is inadequately defined by what appears to be thicket of Medusate branching. The container is delightful but may not be right for a tree that mimics realism."

Judge Comments:
DB - "Powerful design and good choice of pot • strong nebari"
NL - "An amazing piece of beautifully branched wood so nicely bounded in the right-sized container. The soft foliage heightens the power of the trunk. I do enjoy returning to this image."

Judge Comments:
DB - "Interesting design if a bit over-potted • nice display stand • the three primary foliage clouds are well inter-related with good rounded depth"
NL - "A gem of deliberate endeavor. Note how the matching sienna of the hollowed trunks matches the soil color and the slightly darker container, firmly anchoring the tree by the line of the narrow rim. And interesting in its perfect styling."
MP - "Another beautifully haunting bonsai design. "

Judge Comments:
DB - "Weak trunk base but nevertheless a powerful design that really does look typically ‘deciduous’ and very natural"
NL - "While this olive has some excitement, it also has weakness in the branch weight and base. It is nonetheless engaging."
MP - "The styling is majestic. I feel that I am looking at a huge tree the beckons me to climb."

Judge Comments:
DB - "Good overall shape with excellently defined foliage • carving a little unnatural • fascinating pot if a bit bland in shape but nevertheless sets the tree off well."
NL - "This is an exquisite bonsai in every detail. It has been a pleasure to view it if only in a pic."
MP - "A masterpiece. The carving is convincingly integrated into the natural characteristics of the tree. The branch selection and positioning is extremely well executed."

Judge Comments:
DB - "Very tree-like but lower left branching is weak • pot is a trifle to shallow • shame about the inverse tapered trunk"
NL - "While the branching structure of this bonsai is very good, the inverse taper toward the base makes it seem weak The containment in a very flat pot is an interesting idea and accomplishment."

Judge Comments:
DB - "Gross but great • I love it but think it could have been better on a slightly thicker slab"
NL - "A great spook tree, substantial, well articulated, and it tells a story. I am not sure that the remaining trees are necessary at all. The container did not download."

Judge Comments:
DB - "Fabulously refined but spoiled by the clumsy nebari • interesting pot a bit like a jelly mould! • A rectangular pot would be more suitable"
NL - "This is a remarkable accomplishment even if the base is weak and the pot somewhat off in shape and style."
MP - "This is very classical in design and reflects a strong Japanese influence."
