Just wanted to point out the exquisite quality of pictures made by Morten Albek. Not too many people can even come close to his superb skills in this area. What I also enjoy about them is that they have a distinct personal quality: lighthearted, with an air of casualness, but deeply contemplative. And the execution is always flawless.

It shows how important is for a bonsai artist to be a well versed photographer. The photo can not only bring out the timeless qualities of a bonsai, but can also create a certain mood. This interaction between photography and tree can lead to powerful images, beyond the possibilities of live displays.

Bonsai photography is an art form in itself, making use of the principles of bonsai display and the art of photography. The idea that the role of a picture is to present the tree in the best possible light, as close to reality as possible, is grossly outdated. Today's bonsai photographers have proven that they can do much more in this area.

It is truly amazing to see bonsai from so many different countries, almost like a snapshot of the art as it was in 2005. Thanks to all the artists who contributed to this wonderful gallery and who helped to show the world what is out there.
I can only imagine what the World View of Bonsai gallery will be like for 2006.

I am extremely happy with your very kind comments about my photographs. I am glad you appreciate, but I am also just a little embarrassed receiving so nice words.
Best regards
Morten Albek
