The picture here and text just solved a rather large quandry for me Mike. I'm forever in your debt.

Steve, if our attempts to match image and text has been of some help to you, I'm very pleased.

The tree grown to fit
under the moon on the scroll,
must not dread the dark.

Source - the image came on search and it seemed to well suited to the verses to give it up. It could have well been something by Nick Lenz instead!

I love this thread. I hope it never ends. However, all good things will someday come to an end.
Before it does end, I want to post a haiku that says who I am. My near 77 years have led me to this, and who knows where else it may lead.

haiku:

on my tree of life

live three branches that sustain

BACH, BACCHUS, BONSAI

this tree branched out in three,
in years forty four...

I don't have a tree for this post. I do have a new shikishi to use in a scroll and I hope to decide on the tree to accompany it.
What is very unusual about this picture is it's origin. It's silk embroidery from China. Very beautiful. It has to be seen in person to really appreciate the work and artistry involved.
When I bought it, it was mounted to fit a standard picture frame. I cut it to shikishi size and bound the mounting with a matte black tape.

haiku

INTO THE SUNSET
FISHERMEN SEARCH FOR THE LAND
ANXIOUS FAMILIES
