Post subject:  Amendments to the Rules

Since this type of contest has never been done before, we anticipate running into some issues, questions, and challenges as the contest gets underway. In order to maintain a sense of clarity and fairness, this section was created to address any special circumstances which may require an addition to or change of the rules as posted.

Post subject:  Residence and Entry

The issue has recently come up where an entrant wished to represent a different region other than the one they currently reside in. This is because of numerous reasons including the fact that a large majority of their bonsai were created in the other region.
After a discussion of the editors of AoB, we have decided to amend the rules to allow an entrant to enter this contest representing a different region than which they currently reside, if they so wish.
Some of the reasoning behind our decision follows:
We should follow the same rules that apply to professional athletes with dual citizenship:
They are allowed to pick their country.
Once they have done that, they can never change back, and always have to belong to their original choice.
This is very fair. Nobody knows better than the individual himself, where his heart belongs.

As of this notice, the rules are considered to be amended to address this issue.

Post subject:  Blind Judging

Due to popular demand and a general consensus of the staff at AoB, this contest will be blind. By blind we mean that entrants names will be withheld until after the contest is judged.
A Word document will be created containing a table that will contain the names of the entrants as well as a code that will be used in the submissions forums to identify the trees. North American entries will have a code beginning with the letters NA and European entries will have a code beginning with the letter E. This document will remain hidden from the judges and the public until after the judging is completed at which time the names will be put with the original entries and the Word document will be made available to the public.
As of this notice, the rules are considered to be amended to address this issue.

After public response and discussion by the staff of AoB, we have decided that with the exception of extremely poor bonsai and less than excellent photography, all entries will be posted for judging by the judges of this contest.
AoB does not wish to be put into the position of judging entries, this task will be left up to the judges.
It must be said that this contest is for world class trees and the judges will keep this in mind when judging.
As of this notice, the rules are considered to be amended to address this issue.

Bravo, Glad to see AoB adjusting to public suggestions. This contest is bound to be a huge success with this type of attitude.
