Snowed last week - 2". Temps now -2c last 4 nights. Most of the bonsai are in the ground for the winter. The Pyracantha will go into the cold frame and exist at about 0c - 5c for the winter along with the beech, Sequoia Semper, Atlas Cedar and Souther Elm. I'll spend the winter cleaning pots, sifting and cleaning soils and getting everything ready for spring. This year I'll be making a major effort to clean up the "Bonsai Pigpen" as my wife delights in calling my "Bonsai Studio"!
This is it for the berries on the Pyracantha. They'll start to fade pretty quickly now but the memory of them is captured in digital form and in my imagination. I love to look at this tree in it's current form and color. The tree must have some sort of cognition of what it looks like and how it's appearance will attract other beings who will take care of it's needs while taking care of their own needs. Maybe it is aware of me, too. Boy, I think I've had too much Vodka! I'm otta here, Where's the ice?
Enjoy,
Scott in Chicago
