Post subject:  2 new shikishi

My wife and I went to San Francisco's Japan Town for lunch today, and as usual, we visited a small shop called Ma-Shi-Ko. The old Japanese gentleman that owns it sells fine pottery and other art goods, and occasionally has a selection of shikishi, some quite old, and in my opinion, reasonably priced.
I've attached 2 that I bought. The bull is one that I had to have as I'm a Taurus. The other I think is very pretty.

Very nice Mike!
I am in San Fransisco right now, read your post earlier today, rushed over to the same store but it was too late. They had closed already. I am sad that I will be leaving in the morning, with no time to stop in.
The store looked good through the window though.

I don't think that the old gentleman knows much about them, except some are fairly old, pre WW2 he says. The older ones are slightly smaller, and have no edging on the cards.
BTW, I took an inventory of shikishi I've bought from him over the last couple of years, and the total is 15 so far.
Paul. too bad that you got there too late. It's an interesting store to look through, even if you don't buy anything. Very crowded with narrow aisles. I have to keep my elbows tucked in.
